Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has introduced a winter gas load management schedule for domestic consumers in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, limiting gas supply to three daily time slots from November 4. Under the new schedule, households will receive gas from 6:30 am to 9:00 am, 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm, and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm to meet cooking needs during the winter season.
The government is prioritizing domestic consumers as declining LNG availability and rising winter demand put pressure on the country’s gas supply. SNGPL has also reduced gas supplies to the CNG sector from 50 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) to 35 mmcfd, with a complete suspension planned in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the cement industry has shifted to coal, while industrial consumers are facing supply cuts. The power sector is receiving around 140 mmcfd, while the fertiliser industry is getting approximately 53 mmcfd. Further reductions in industrial gas supplies remain possible.
