Snapdragon 845 beats iPhone X in graphics, benchmark results

Qualcomm unveiled its latest SoC Snapdragon 845 back in December last year. The Snapdragon 845 is a successor to last year’s worthy contestant Snapdragon 835 and is expected to boost performance improvements, better power efficiency, and improved image processing in upcoming flagships of 2018. As of now, the new benchmark tests conducted by AnandTech have revealed that Adreno 630 GPU of Snapdragon 845 chipset is has scored higher than Apple iPhone X’s A11 Bionic chipset.

The Adreno 630 GPU provides a significant boost to the Snapdragon 845, offering 30 percent better performance and 2.5 times faster display output. In addition, it also boasts a 30 percent estimated power reduction. While battery life testing was limited, the Snapdragon 845 chip has beaten all rivals on most benchmarks, including Apple’s iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 XL, and even Galaxy S8 which is powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset. Meanwhile, the report also hints that iPhone X’s A11 chips are “severely thermally constrained and are only able to achieve these scores when the devices are cold.”

Qualcomm’s new chip is over 20 percent faster than its rivals. According to the report,

“Qualcomm current generations of SoCs are simply unmatched and the gap is so wide that I do not expect upcoming rival solutions to be able to catch up this year.”

Furthermore, Snapdragon 845 also has a new component called X20 cellular modem, which can handle 1.2 Gbps speeds for users of Gigabit LTE. It’s also got other new components like 802.11ad WiFi, quick charging, and a fingerprint sensor.

Meanwhile, Snapdragon 845 is most likely to be featured in Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S9 to make it insanely fast. The device is expected to make its debut on 25th of February and worry not flagships of other Android-powered manufacturers including LG, Xiaomi, and Sony are also on the list.
