Snapchat has started selling its hot dog costume on Amazon for $80. If you are a Snapchat user, you must be aware of the dancing hot dog filter in Snapchat. The new filter quickly became the internet meme sensation and everyone was sharing it. Snapchat called it the “world’s first augmented reality superstar” and said that it has been viewed over 1.5 billion times.
According to the product description, the new costume is an “easy 2 piece fit” with a “Hot Dog Tunic” and pants. Snapchat is offering it only in one size for the people under the height of 6’4″.
Here are the product features as described in the product description.
It’s only been a day the costume is available for sale online and it has already been reviewed by a number of people. This is not the first time the company is selling its physical products on Amazon. It has also sold themed beach towels, ice cube trays, backpacks, and playing cards. Not to forget the Snapchat sunglasses “Spectacles” which are sold more than 150,000 units since their launch.
Selling such products shows that the Snapchat sees itself more than a communication app. With Facebook acquiring startups and introducing new features similar to Snapchat. It has become very important for the company to innovate and do something which differentiates with other communication and social platforms.
LINE is another innovative communication application which opened its own pop-up stores to sell its merchandise in different parts of the world.
