Snapchat has hit an all-time low among millennials which does not fare well for the story sharing app. Snapchat’s target market has always been millennials and now the same demographic market has rejected the application. According to a new survey via YouGov, Snapchat’s new update did more damage to itself. The report suggests that the app’s new layout has negatively affected over two years worth of positive feelings of millennials towards the app.
Using the impression scores ranging on a scale from -100 to 100, the report elaborates that users of age group 18 to 34 gave Snapchat an overall satisfaction score of 27 in January, and that dropped down to 12 by mid-April. The YouGov survey also found out that 26% of US citizens aged 18 to 34 use Snapchat on the daily, but among users 35 and up, that number dropped down to 3%.
Since the US-based company, Snap Inc, has introduced its latest controversial and widely-disliked redesign for Snapchat, it has been heavily criticised. The re-design has taken its toll on not only the platform’s growth but also on its ad revenue. Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel had announced the Snapchat’s redesign late last year.
However, the company has been pushing various updates to put more focus on friends rather than brands. However, the platform’s growth continues to slow down. According to the 2018 first-quarter earnings report of Snapchat, the company seems to have cut down ad revenue as well.
Almost 1,257,884 and counting people have signed the petition to get the old Snapchat back. With reports swirling to ditch the much-hated redesign, Snapchat might just be able to save itself.
