Microsoft is testing the all-in-one application, Skype Mingo in alpha mode, which provides a single platform for the smartphone functions like texting, audio and video calling, photo-sharing and contact management.
Skype, a video calling application, is currently working on SMS relay feature to bring SMS feature to Android users. In addition to texting and calling functionality, Skype Mingo users will also be able to enjoy Skype bots, which are virtual assistants for numerous tasks like Baymax (health care companion), Zoom (schedules meetings), Skyscanner (for finding flights), Bing news (web search), gaming bots and more.
The application has similar blue and white color design as Skype. Microsoft notes in the Google Play store describe Mingo as small and fast, optimized for speed and gives users a rich set of features in a small, easy-to-manage package. A spokesperson said,
“As part of the ongoing improvements to deliver the best Skype experience possible, we are always innovating and occasionally test out new features and functionality. We have nothing more to share at this time.”
Mingo aims to help you save money by providing ‘Economic Calling’. As the app is still in alpha testing, so users may face certain issues like call failures, long time wait for one-time-password (OTP), links not copying and a few others.
