Sindh Govt to introduce online vehicle registration and transfer services starting January 2025

The Sindh government has recently announced that from January 1st, 2025, the registration and transfer of vehicles will be facilitated through the Internet. This represents a significant step towards the liberalization of its taxation system. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the convenience of the public and simplify the lives of residents.

This decision was made during the Excise and Taxation Department meeting, which was presided over by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The government aims to simplify the process of registering vehicles and transferring ownership for citizens by implementing the e-citizen program, which eliminates the need for them to visit government offices.

“This initiative allows citizens to register and transfer vehicles from the comfort of their homes, as well as pay motor vehicle taxes online. By eliminating cash transactions, the government aims to enhance convenience for the public and promote greater transparency in the tax payment system,” a statement issued by the Excise and Taxation Department read.

The Sindh government has also announced the commencement of an operation to combat the misuse of official number plates on personal vehicles as a means of enhancing the efficacy of its services.

The Excise Department has asserted that it has collected 34% of the annual tax revenue within the past three months and fifteen days, at the time of this announcement.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Minister of State for Revenue, issued explicit directives during a recent conference to improve the speed of collection and increase the tax targets. Memon discussed the government’s transition to non-cash operations, with an emphasis on the public’s convenience and transparency. The aforementioned initiative is designed to alleviate all vehicle-related concerns and reduce any inconvenience to the residents of Sindh.

Additionally, the government is expediting the sale of customized and unique number plates online. The government is committed to the responsible management of the country’s resources and the assistance of the impoverished, as evidenced by the allocation of the funds from this auction to the construction of homes for the individuals impacted by the recent floods in the region.
