Sindh govt plans to set up AI, Robotics & Blockchain center at IBA Sukkur

In an attempt to boost the trend of AI and robotics in the province the provincial government of Sindh is planning to set up a center of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain at IBA university in Sukkur. For this purpose a total of Rs. 3.0 billion has been allocated by the provincial government of Sindh in its budget for FY 2019-20.

Moreover, the Sindh government is also planning to several initiatives for higher education, by establishing Thar Institute of Technology, which will be termed as the NED Campus of Tharparkar, and the Sindh University Campus in Badin and Mirpurkhas.

The provincial government in its budget for 2019-20 has focused greatly on the education sector, the government has increased the budget amount for universities and boards’ department. The Sindh government has allocated Rs. 10.585 billion for universities in the next financial year 2019-20.

The Sindh government is putting its efforts to develop the Sindh Education City, spread in a total area of 8900 acres. Being the top priority project, around twenty local and foreign institutions have been granted lands to build academic campuses in the education city. Several of those institutions have finalized their detailed designs to enter the construction phase of their campuses.

The provincial government has developed the master plan for education city and is planning to start the first phase of infrastructure in 2020. The Sindh Education city project is said to be complete in five years at the cost of Rs. 13.9 billion.

Other major development projects in the College Education Department in Sindh include 17 new degree colleges in Karachi, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Sukkur, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and in Sanghar. For this, the government has allocated a total of Rs. 18.094 billion in the budget for the next financial year 2019-20.
