Sindh govt plans to set up an Information Technology board just like Punjab’s PITB

The Government of Sindh is planning to establish its own information technology board like the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

The Sindh Minister for IT, Environment and Coastal Development, Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur was addressing the “Smart Cities & Digital Transformation” event held at Karachi’s National Incubation Center. Taimoor Talpur said that Sindh does not have a dedicated platform to promote IT solutions, due to which the province lags behind in major tech solutions and other fields of science and technology.

The participants of the event made remarks that Pakistan can learn from Sweden, which can offer its expertise and solutions to tackle urban challenges in the country. Ingrid Johansson, who is the Ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan said, “Sweden’s industry, academia, and government collaborate in clusters that produce start-ups and innovations for sustainable growth and the same can be done in Pakistan.”

She also stated, “I look forward to increased trade and knowledge-sharing between Sweden and Pakistan”.

Muhammad Shamoon Tariq, country head of Tundra Pakistan said, “We want to make the business community of Pakistan understands that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. Sustainable businesses will be more profitable in medium to long term”.

Stressing over the importance of technology, the Swedish illusionist Charlie Caper said that it has the potential to bring a rich country down and on the other hand, can also boost the economic growth of an emerging market.
