Sindh Government to launch an IT City named after Arfa Karim in Malir

Sindh government has planned the development of an IT City in Malir, to be named after the late Pakistani wunderkind, Arfa Karim. She was the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional when she received the certification back in 2004.

The Sindh Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Sikandar Ali Shoro, stated this in a meeting with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

According to the Ministry of Sindh’s official website, the first phase of the megaproject is complete. This phase consisted of securing the required 200-acre land and the development of the Masterplan for the city. The next steps are to get investors on board for the projects and then the phase-wise construction of the city.

During the meeting, Dr Shoro asserted his ministry’s focus on e-governance projects with different departments of the government. The IT ministry is also working on a Geographical Information System (GIS).
The minister also said the Sindh government would help FPCCI in creating data banks and improving other IT services.

It should be noted here that Lahore’s Information Technology Park by Punjab Government has also been named after late Arfa Karim.
