While Careem may be increasing the rates of its packages, we have a new ride-hailing service in town which intends to disrupt the ecosystem by offering the same luxury and comfort at a lower price. Siayara is a Pakistani startup whose slogan is to provide cheap transport in the city of Karachi.
It remains to be seen how well Siayara will stack up to Careem and Uber in the city. If you conduct a head to head comparison, an eco-mini vehicle will cost you Rs. 15 per km which is apparently 3 to 4 rupees less than the competitor “Go Mini” rides on Uber and Careem, according to Director Siayara Syed Aamir Hussain. As of right now, Siayara is only based in one city of Pakistan but they intend to scale to more locations in the future.
The per km rates of the various rides offered by Siayara are listed below:
There are no peak factors and it is a 24/7 service.
Uber and Careem are the world leaders in regards to the ride-hailing industry with only a few competitors challenging their dominance and that too only at a localized level. If we are going to talk about the success of ride-hailing services, only lower prices will not be the way to go. Whether Siayara can offer the same level of customer support, then it would probably become a force to be reckoned with.
Do you think we need another ride-hailing service in the region?
