Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is a phone with 2 notches

Just when you thought that there couldn’t be more than one notch, Sharp introduces Aquos R2 Compact with 2 notches, one for the camera and the other for a fingerprint sensor while maximizing the overall screen size. It’s not just the 2 notches which are worthy of notice, Aquos R2 Compact brings in Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with 4GB of RAM making it one of the most powerful phones on the market.

Aquos R2 Compact has a 5.2 inches 2280 x 1080 IGZO LCD plus a 22.6 MP rear camera and 2500 mAh battery as well as Android 9 Pie right out of the box. We are talking about seriously premium specs compared to last year’s R Compact which had a Snapdragon 660 processor and a huge bezel at the bottom of the phone which made it seriously unattractive in terms of design.

The major innovation compared to the predecessor is definitely the second notch which replaces the huge bezel plus the flagship specifications. Now the selling point would definitely be the price which hasn’t been disclosed yet. Sharp also presented a concept of a borderless phone once and R2 Compact seems to be a step in that direction. Probably the next year’s R3 Compact will be the commercial product of the concept.

What are your thoughts about this phone? Do you prefer this new design with 2 notches?
