Shark Tank India judges Anupam Mittal and Aman Gupta recently weighed in on Shark Tank Pakistan, poking fun at a viral pitch from the show. During a conversation with influencer Sharan Hegde, the founders of Shaadi.com and Boat Electronics, respectively, expressed their bewilderment over the Pakistani version of the business reality series.
The viral moment involved an elderly contestant on Shark Tank Pakistan requesting PKR 300 crore (₹91 crore INR) in exchange for a 3% equity stake in his business. The unexpected request has puzzled the judges in Pakistan and has since sparked a wave of amusement on social media platforms.
“Bhai, ho kya raha hai wahan pe? (What is happening there?),” Mittal said, laughing as the clip was discussed. Gupta acknowledged that he hadn’t viewed the entire program but described the segments he had seen as “interesting.”
Mittal added humorously, “Someone asked for 300 crore; aisa thodi hota hai yaar (that’s not how it works).” While both judges enjoyed the absurdity of the pitch, Mittal took a moment to reflect on the broader implications.
“For a country to progress, its neighbors must progress too,” he said, explaining that a lack of economic productivity in Pakistan could create regional challenges. “If Pakistan isn’t productive, it will create trouble for us. It is in our best interest that initiatives like Shark Tank Pakistan inspire growth and productivity in the country.”
Mittal’s nuanced perspective underscores the importance of fostering entrepreneurship across borders, even as moments like the viral pitch provide comic relief.
