Saudi Arabia to partner with Google for cybersecurity training

Since Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has been in America for a 3-week tour, this week he met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai and President of Alphabet Sergey Brin in Silicon Valley. The meeting was held to discuss the cooperation in opportunities in the digital transformation initiative and cloud computing services to localize technology and develop the digital environment.

The Prince along with Saudi officials stopped to meet with a handful of company leaders Hiroshi Lockheimer, the Google SVP who runs Android, Chrome including other platforms as well as, Urs Hölzle, the leader of Google’s cloud business. The Saudi prince discussed to establish a research, development and training center for Saudi youth and enhancing cooperation in cybersecurity during his visit to the Google headquarters in San Francisco.

During the visit, the crown prince was also briefed on the Google cloud and artificial intelligence and computer education. Google plans to help Saudi Arabia in achieving cloud and artificial intelligence in the country. The Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman also visited the headquarters of Apple along with the CEO Tim Cook where he explored potential areas for partnerships and cooperation in the areas of tech, education, research, and training in Saudi Arabia.

Since the Prince has arrived, he has received a warm reception from all the tech leaders but not everyone was happy about his visit. People have been protesting outside the Four Seasons Hotel, where he is staying, demanding that Silicon Valley should not establish any kind of partnership with the Prince until Saudi Arabia ends the military intervention in Yemen where millions of Yemeni locals have been brutally killed.

Saudi Arabia is bringing revolutionary changes and the Crown Prince also plans to enhance the country’s technology along with it, let’s see if this partnership with Google will benefit Saudi Arabia or not.
