ISLAMABAD: Saturday is now officially a working day for all Islamabad-based educational institutions overseen by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). In Islamabad, the only day that will be observed as a holiday is Sunday.
From November 30, 2024, until February 1, 2025, this decision will be in place to make up for the academic losses that have occurred as a result of the recent shutdown of schools and institutions in the federal capital.
The notice, which was sent out on November 29, 2024, emphasized that the closures were mostly caused by regular disturbances, such as political demonstrations. Notably, authorities in Pakistan temporarily closed schools for a few days due to safety concerns raised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallies earlier this month.
The FDE has temporarily adopted a six-day workweek schedule due to the enormous loss of instructional time caused by these interruptions. It is imperative that all FDE-affiliated educational institutions, whether located in urban or rural areas, comply with this timetable within the officially notified timings.
The FDE Director General has authorized the directive, which stresses the significance of making up for missing class time so that students can achieve their annual learning goals.
Parents and other educational stakeholders have voiced their disapproval of the decision, citing worries about how students’ education may be affected by the ongoing political unrest. To compensate for these losses and keep the academic program running smoothly, an extra working day has been added.
