Samsung will launch a Galaxy A series phone every month till June

Samsung intends to launch a new Galaxy A series phone till June this year to appeal to the budget to mid-range smartphone buyers and increase revenues. This is the same strategy which propelled Xiaomi to the top, the Chinese company used to release a new phone almost every month in its sub-brand Redmi which has been dedicated for budget level phones.

As for now, it seems Samsung will be testing out its new strategy in India alone but there is no restriction on worldwide launch of those phones, provided they go viral. The announcement about Samsung’s plans to release phones every month was made by Samsung India’s Chief Marketing Officer Ranjiv Singh. He further highlighted that Samsung intends to make $4 billion of revenue this year.

Samsung Galaxy A series will replace the former budget level J series which used to be priced between $120 to $290. The mid-range tier will also now feature phones from the Samsung M series. The primary difference here is that the M series is only available online, not at your local retailers. There are expectations that Samsung will also introduce a phone with Android Go, which is Google’s cut-down version of the old Android 8.0 Oreo.

What are your thoughts regarding Samsung’s new strategy? Do you think it will be effective in boosting revenues? Let us know!
