Samsung to expand its Galaxy Fold lineup with two dual-fold display tablets

Samsung has just postponed its plan for an early launch of Galaxy Fold in various developed markets including China possibly due to the potential Fold Gate. But this didn’t stop the rumor mill to reveal amazing details about the upcoming tablets in the Galaxy Fold lineup of the South Korean tech giant.

The renowned and authentic South Korean media outlet, The Bell (translated) has once again shared details about the two upcoming tablets of Samsung which will fold twice. The report says that Samsung Display has developed a foldable display panel that folds twice.

The Bell affirms that Samsung may unveil two more models that will have a larger than the 7.3-inch foldable display to complete fall in the tablet segment. Industry sources familiar with the matter have revealed to The Bell that Samsung Display is developing an 8-inch and 13-inch foldable display. These folding tablets are being developed as G type and S type form factor.

A Samsung’s spokesperson who is familiar with ongoing work with component manufacturing said that “the parts used in the folders are mostly the same as those of the existing smartphone, but there are key differences in the display. The goal is to develop two types of the foldable display.”

The major expected difference between the upcoming Folds as compared to the original Galaxy Fold is that the display bends not once but twice, and, while the G-style phone bends inwards, the S-style should bend towards both sides “inward” and “outward.” Moreover, the new composite polymer material is 50% thinner than existing smartphone displays.

In addition, Samsung has also filed numerous patents with the US Trademark office that depicts the design of the upcoming tablets but still, the South Korean tech giant has not revealed their launch date yet.
