Samsung Set to Tease XR Glasses in January 2025

According to a recent Korean report, Samsung is set to showcase prototypes of its highly anticipated XR (Extended Reality) glasses during the Galaxy S25 launch event in January 2025.

However, you won’t be able to buy these glasses right away. Similar to how the Galaxy Ring was previewed at Unpacked earlier this year, the firm will most likely use a video or image to exhibit them in a sneak peek format.

According to industry insiders, the XR glasses could be ready for sale at the event in July or September of 2025, but they won’t be released until the third quarter. This shows that Samsung is launching the phone in the same way it has in the past: with hints of building excitement before the big reveal.

The glasses will look like regular spectacles and will probably just weigh 50g. These smart devices will have a number of useful capabilities, such as the ability to make payments, integrate with AI, recognize faces (probably for payments), and control the user interface with gestures.

Samsung has been working on XR glasses alongside Google and Qualcomm since February 2023. They will most likely be a part of their larger effort to enter the AR/VR market.

By the month’s end, the business hopes to unveil the smart glasses and introduce the XR software platform that will power them. Samsung hopes to further extend its ecosystem into the XR technology sector with this breakthrough.
