Samsung will try to fix the S8 reddish Infinity Display

A couple of days back, we had reported about first major problem that arose with the S8 smartphones being shipped in South Korea. Some Koreans had reported that the S8 smartphones they have received bear a red-tinted screen out of the box. Samsung, confirming the issue, is now looking to tackle the problem with a software update.

According the recent reports, the magnitude of the problem and the nuisance it caused has forced Samsung to push a software update that will fix the issue. A Korean news outlet, Korea Herald, reported a Samsung spokesperson stating, “Because there are some complaints about the red-tinted screens, we decided to upgrade the software next week for all Galaxy S8 clients.” Samsung also reportedly has sent the announcement to its service centers.

The problem only seemed to exist with Korean smartphones because S8 didn’t launch around the world until yesterday. We will have to wait in order to see if the problem also exists with the international S8 models.

Earlier this week, many users belonging to the hub of Samsung, South Korea, started posting images of the reddish tint S8 screens on local and international social media platforms. Even before the users in countries started to receive their smartphones, “Galaxy S8 Red Screen” became the most searched query on the largest South Korean search engine.

Samsung had made it clear that the red-tinted screen issue was due to software color calibration and can be changed by the customers themselves. But some customers weren’t able to resolve the problem as stated by the company. Samsung Galaxy S8 was revealed last month and went on global sales today. As per the reports, it is already breaking preorder records in Korea.
