Samsung rolls out Android Oreo stable update for Galaxy S8/S8+

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been on the top of the list of the best flagships of the South Korean giant and the year 2017. But consumers of Samsung’s smartphones as always have to wait for a long time to get the latest version of the software on their devices. The major reason behind this delay could be the world’s largest manufacturer’s wide range of smartphones, which require plenty of time to get the latest Android updates.

After a series of Android 8.0 beta rollouts to the devices, Samsung has finally started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo stable update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices. Samsung Experience 9.0 also comes alongside Oreo updates. The update will add new features like a new keyboard, improvements in Bixby, the color lens for the display and many more. The Android security patch update for February is also added in the OTA (over-the-air update).

Samsung Galaxy S8 variants are getting the Android Oreo update to the skin formerly known as TouchWiz, now called “Samsung Experience 9.0.” Along with its unique features, the update also comes with numerous Google-added features like picture-in-picture, improved notifications, and improved search interface.

Meanwhile, Samsung Experience 9.0 includes some improvements to DeX, Samsung Connect, Samsung Cloud, Game Launcher, and the built-in email application. There’s also a new “Dual-Messenger” feature which allows for logging into multiple messaging accounts at once with apps such as Facebook Messenger. Samsung has also added an update to its stock keyboard which includes a new shortcut toolbar right above the standard keyboard, including shortcuts to a special GIF keyboard.

The update is currently rolling out to those users which have earlier enrolled themselves in beta program and users in Germany as well, with the version SM-G955XXU1CRAP. The update will make its way out to other regions but it is still unknown how much time this OTA would take.
