Samsung partners with private firms for manufacturing of 6G ready equipment

While 5G is only in the beginning phases, Samsung is already moving ahead with plans to partner up with private companies for the manufacturing of 6G ready equipment which includes mobile devices, blockchain integrations and AI use. Samsung Electronics Co. Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee held a discussion with senior executives of the company regarding this as the Korean giant faces a rapidly changing global business environment.

This is the first time Samsung has officially mentioned 6G whose standards are yet to be defined. 5G itself offers around 10 times better performance than 4G/LTE bands but devices utilizing 5G capabilities are limited in number. Samsung itself came up with a 5G variant for the Galaxy S10 and AT&T is only selling it to business consumers, showing that commercialization of 5G tech hasn’t even properly started yet.

According to a statement emailed by Samsung to Bloomberg, the company intends to challenge themselves with a resolution to make new foundations, moving beyond the scope of protecting their past achievements. The executives also discussed structural changes in the technology industry as well as an overview of risk-response plans regarding their semi-conductor chip business,

What are your thoughts regarding 6G? What advantage do you think it will bring over 5G?
