Samsung leaks their 2019 line-up of wearable devices

Samsung on Thursday inadvertently leaked their entire 2019 wearable-line-up via the routine update for the Galaxy Wearable on the Galaxy watch.

The popular android wearable app is more commonly known as Samsung Gear displayed several new (not launched) products on its front page. These products included a 40mm Galaxy fitness Watch (Galaxy Watch Active) which will probably be an eventual successor to Samsung’s previous fitness sports watch, a fitness band Galaxy Fit/Fit e and the all-new wireless Galaxy Buds.

These new wearables are expected to be launched with the Galaxy S10, next week. The update also sheds light on the recently hyped Galaxy buds which were are rumored to have an air power like feature. An image was leaked which displayed Samsung’s new Galaxy buds to be wirelessly charged by Samsung’s Galaxy S10. If this turns out to be true then Samsung has really hit the bulls-eye this time.

Wireless buds are infamous for having a small and inconvenient battery and therefore require a consistent need for charging. With this new feature, it seems that the South Korean giant may have solved the problem to some extent. This is somewhat similar to Huawei’s wireless charging but the implementation is much more practical and smart.

2019, a year of wearable?

With recent leaks confirming that Google is finally entering the Android wearable market with its new “Pixel watch”, things can get interesting. The search engine giant’s absence in the wearable OS market has caused the Android smartwatch market to leap backward since there hasn’t been a true competitor to Apple’s smartwatch. The futuristic health options such as an ECG detector and “automatic calling to 911” in the Apple watch make the Android smartwatches look and feel archaic.

Samsung’s Galaxy watches have somewhat kept the Android smartwatch market alive with its somewhat decent features and continuous software support and with the release of new Galaxy watch (Galaxy Watch Active) and probably a new Pixel watch we might see a fierce competition between Samsung and Google.

Other interesting products to be released this year include Samsung’s new Galaxy buds, AirPods 2.0 and Pixel buds 2.0. While Apple has its bases firmly covered with its spectacular AirPods which provide a seamless connection between Apple devices, the Android wireless headphone market has still a lot to sort out. While Google Pixel buds and Galaxy buds have provided some decent choices there is still room for improvement. Let’s see what 2019 has in store for us.
