Samsung launches J1 Mini Prime in Pakistan

Samsung has launched its J1 Mini Prime smartphone in Pakistan. The device, coming at a price of PKR 9,999, offers entry-level specifications for users looking to buy on the budget.

Feature set and specifications

J1 Mini Prime improves upon the original J1 in two key areas. It increases the available storage from 4 GB to 8GB and doubles the amount of RAM from 512 MB to 1 GB. These improvements will certainly be appreciated by Samsung’s loyal customers as low storage and a lackluster amount of RAM contribute a great deal in ruining a smartphone’s user experience.

To adjust these improvements in device’s price, Samsung has downgraded the screen from 4.3 inches to 4 inches. However, the resolution of the screen is still WVGA (480 x 800 pixels). Which, although is nothing to brag about, is perfectly reasonable in this price range. The device also comes with 1,500 mAh battery, which may seem low at first, but coupled with power efficient chipset, low-resolution screen, and software features like Ultra power-saving mode, should be enough to last a whole day of usage.
J1 Mini Prime is aimed at budget users who are looking for an adequate smartphone experience at a low price. To accomplish that task, it comes with following specifications:

  • 4.0 inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) TFT Screen
  • 1 GB RAM with 8 GB internal, expandable to 256 GB with a microSD card
  • Quad-core 1.2 GHz J106B/DS processor
  • 5 MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, capable of shooting 720p videos at 30 frames per second
  • VGA front camera
  • Removable 1,500 mAh battery with ultra power-saving mode
  • Single SIM and Dual SIM (Micro-SIM, dual standby) variants
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz Grace UI

J1 Mini Prime’s specifications might not impress anyone at first glance, but taking into account its price and target audience, it seems like a well-balanced device. It offers a decent processor, good amount of internal storage and enough juice to run it easily for a whole day. From the get-go, it looks like a worthy upgrade for users of older J1 series phones.

The device is now available at most online and retail stores at a price of 9,999 Pakistani Rupees.
