Samsung introduces minor design improvements in the Galaxy Fold

Samsung has introduced its new and improved version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold which previously incurred a bit of criticism for some of its crucial design problems.

CNET’s Andrew Hoyle gave us his first impression of the phone as it launched in London this Thursday. The major design issue with the first model was that of the protective layer on the screen, which people thought off as a screen protector and peeled it off, not realising that the protective layer on the screen was a crucial part of the display and hence ended up ruining there new Galaxy Fold on the first day. This issue has now been solved by putting the protective layer under the screen itself to avoid any future misconceptions.

The new and improved version of the Galaxy Fold also comes with plastic caps, securing and sealing edges at the 2 points where it folds i.e. the space between the hinge and the folding panels, which further ensures that no debris gets in the mechanism to potentially ruin the phone’s functionality.

Samsung also ensures its users that an additional layer of metal has been added under the screen so as to provide further support to the otherwise frail plastic screen. There is also a snappier and overall firm hinge mechanism. Other than these minor tweaks, the phone remains absolutely the same as its first design. The phone will be arriving in Pakistan soon, although no official release date has yet been announced, you can expect the phone to start selling at a price of 300,000 PKR.
