Samsung has confirmed that the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series will feature Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. According to TM Roh, president of Samsung Mobile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is likely to include this potent processor. Despite the fact that he did not specifically address the Galaxy S25, his statements bolstered the anticipation that at least one model in the series would include the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is significantly superior to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, boasting 40% more potent GPUs and 35% enhanced ray tracing for gaming and multitasking. Additionally, it offers a remarkable 44% increase in power density, ensuring that users can experience optimal performance without sacrificing overall battery life.
This processor also includes a new NPU that enhances AI-related operations by 45%, thereby enhancing the user experience of the Galaxy’s AI capabilities. Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is equipped with a cognitive AI image signal processor that improves the quality of images and facilitates intelligent image processing, including real-time scene enhancement and photo editing.
Samsung has also been working on the Exynos 2500 that was initially planned to make its first appearance in the Galaxy S25 series. Nonetheless, new information indicates that yield rates for this 3nm chip are under pressure in the company, which may affect the production output. This could make Samsung fully depend on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the whole of the Galaxy S25 series or consider MediaTek for the base and Plus models.
Although there is no official word yet on this change, Samsung is listed among Qualcomm’s partners expected to unveil Snapdragon 8 Elite devices in the ‘coming weeks’ which indicates this chipset will have a major role to play in the Galaxy S25 series whether across the entire series or in the flagship model only.
It is anticipated that the Galaxy S25 series, which will feature the new Snapdragon processor, will be released in early 2025. This release will represent a substantial enhancement for Samsung phone enthusiasts.
