Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-orders on first day trail behind Galaxy S9, Note 9

It looks like that Samsung’s bet on Galaxy S10 might actually not work as the smartphone market’s flagship segment is already quite saturated these days.

This year, Samsung Galaxy S-series devices were greatly admired by the critics with many praising the new displays, designs, critical camera department, and overall performance. However, the pre-order numbers on the first day in its home market, South Korea failed to impress the observers.

The number of pre-orders recorded for the Galaxy S10 family in South Korea on day 1 (this includes all three phones Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e) is estimated to be around 140,000 units, according to the Korea Herald. Well, comparing this number to the last year’s first day pre-orders number of 180,000 units of Galaxy S9 and 200,000 units of Galaxy Note 9, we can assume that the company going through a tough situation regarding sales this year.

There are chances that some of Samsung’s loyal consumers might be waiting for the S10’s 5G variant or the upcoming Galaxy Fold that may have decreased number of pre-orders for the released phones. However, it is still a worrying factor for the or the South Korean tech giant, which is facing hard competition from various Chinese smartphone makers offering premium devices with similar features in a decent price range.

The saturated flagship market has even made it difficult for Samsung fanboys to decide between the expensive devices of South Korean manufacturer or mid-range products from its Chinese rivals. Indeed S10 series phones are terrific, but the prices are getting unreachable for most consumer.
