The ultra-premium luxury smartphone Samsung Galaxy Fold will be an exclusive product which will be released in limited number with excellent after-purchase service for the Galaxy Fold owners.
The Galaxy fold made some headline last week with its exaggerated price tag which was almost double the price of its current flagship, Galaxy S10 Plus. It was already known that this phone was not made for the masses and was targeting a specific kind of niche. This assumption was further fortified by Samsung’s director of product, services, and commercial strategy, Kate Beaumont when she said that Galaxy Fold, unlike other Samsung Flagships, was not going to be seen in stands and instead will provide a somewhat unique and personal experience.
Kate Beaumont further told that the premium foldable phone would only be available in limited supply. So to put it simple you can consider the Galaxy F to be a limited edition Samsung flagship.
“We’ll have less supply (of the Galaxy Fold) than we would of the S10 at launch, and also how it goes to market is really important to us”, said Kate Beaumont.
In a way, this is can be seen as a brilliant marketing strategy since phones have already been getting extremely expensive and the $1000 mark was still not acceptable by many people. So at a time like this launching, a $2000 phone would be suicidal move by the any smartphone company. However, if the product is marketed as a limited edition with premium service after the product has been bought, then this could potentially develop a new kind of niche for Samsung’s foldable phone which may become status symbol in the near future since Samsung is advertising it in such a way.
For now, Samsung has scheduled an event next month in April which is completely dedicated to the Galaxy Fold where the South Korean giant will launch the devices for the public use along with the guidelines of where the phone will be available and what their premium ‘concierge-like services’ for the Galaxy Fold are.
