Samsung’s smartphones are best known for their sleek and stylish display and design, features and adequate specs, but Samsung’s Android updates are unbearably slow. Even its flagship Galaxy Note 8 was delayed for at least 3 months for the Oreo update, however, Samsung has now finally started to give some Oreo juice to its almost mid-range Galaxy A-series smartphones after completing the roll-out for Galaxy S7 variants.
TechJuice has compiled reports from various international authentic media outlets to tell our readers about which Galaxy A-series devices are being updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. First things first, GSM Arena reports that Samsung has started rolling out Oreo update to Galaxy A7 (2017), however, it’s a staged rollout and will be available for emerging Asian markets like Pakistan in coming weeks. The update which weighs in at around 1.3GB is currently hitting units in Russia, Trinidad, and Tobago.
A couple of days ago, Samsung started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy A3 (2017) in a handful of Asian countries and will hopefully land in Pakistan anytime soon. However, if you own a Galaxy A3 (2017), you should try to download the Oreo update from the Settings » Software update menu.
And it’s about time, you need not worry — Galaxy A5 (2017) owners as we have good news for you as well. According to XDA developers forum, the Android Oreo update for your device is set to release on May 25.
It must be noted that we are currently not sure then when all Galaxy A-series units in other regions will get the update. However, as the roll-out has officially begun in a certain market, it shouldn’t be very long before all units are updated. Just for a quick recall, Galaxy A8 (2018), and A8+ (2018) received Oreo update after one month of launch, while remaining versions of A-series does not support project treble sadly, and will not get any major OS upgrade.
Aside from the Android updates, Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the talks of the town these days due to the amazing camera features they are bundled with. So, what do you think of Samsung being the slowest Android update introducer?
