Samsung files a new patent for its foldable Galaxy X phone

Samsung Galaxy X might become a reality very soon.

The rumors about the Samsung’s foldable phone are increasing by the passage of time. Samsung Galaxy X might make iPhone X an outdated device, as it is coming with a foldable or bendable screen. We have a solid report about the new phone, as the company has filed a new patent with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

According to the patent, the upcoming smartphone will carry two large screens with a piece of metal in between them. When the phone is not in use, the two screens fold together to protect the displays.

One of the Samsung’s top executives, Koh Dong-jin earlier said that Samsung will release a foldable handset in 2018. Well, now it looks like the company is about to fulfill its claim. The patent also reveals that the metal frame between the two screens can bend in different ways. There are built-in three antennas so that the foldable design doesn’t interfere with the phone’s signal.

The concept design of the foldable phone also reveals that both screens of the device can be used at the same time, after turning on. While bending one screen in the back of the other will allow users to view one display at a time. SM-G888N0 is rumored to be the first model of Galaxy X. The phone is expected to have a 5-inch screen size when folded while it will expand to 7-inch to become a tablet. While previously a leak has also shown a phone that allows the display to bend at a 90-degree angle.

Rumors also suggest that the foldable phone might be launched during next month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas. However, Samsung has denied the rumors that Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 plus will be showcased at CES.
