Talk about setting some very ambitious targets. Samsung is expecting to sell around 700,000 Galaxy Note 8 devices in the first month alone in their home country according to a Korean news outlet. The majority of the sales will be taken up by the 64 GB storage variants whereas no 128 GB unit will be available for domestic sales during the first month.
The report could be true since they are quoting the figure of units Samsung supplied to Korean telecom providers SK Telecom, KT and LG U Plus but whether they will reach the planned target is another question. Samsung Galaxy S8 achieved around 5 million sales worldwide according to a Korean research firm so if we were to make guesses from this data, then Samsung will most likely achieve the required target. However, one must also keep in mind last year’s scandal. It would be an understatement to say that Note 7 setback wouldn’t have any impact on the sales. Plus the starting price of Note 8 is a whopping $930 and it is more expensive than all Note flagships to date. But then again, Korea is Samsung’s own playground and they are the number one manufacturer over there so it might be possible to achieve the required targets. It would be more interesting to see the world wide sales of Samsung’s new flagship
The dissection of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 available units in Korea according to the source is as follows: 64 GB variants has around 40% Deep Blue Blue, 30% Midnight Black, and 30% Orchid Gray units whereas 256 GB storage variants will have 60% Deep Blue Blue color options and 40% Midnight Black options. By excluding the 128 GB variant from launch sales, they are pretty much-targeting profit since there would be a huge price gap between the base storage variant and higher end one.
