In recent news, Samsung is currently in talks with numerous investors in regards to establishing a local assembly plant in Pakistan for their respective smartphone products. So far there are three investors who are looking to be a part of this project. One of these investor parties resides in South Korea which has already build assembly units in Pakistan, under the Auto Development policy 2016-2021, while the remaining two parties have not been disclosed yet.
According to numerous sources, the tech giant is looking to work with another Korean company to properly operate within Pakistan. Moreover, according to another source the company “aims to start local assembly of cellphones in the last quarter of this year”.
Moreover, based on the country’s economic survey the telecom sector had gained about $101 million in Foreign Direct Investments during the July-February 2021 period. With Samsung’s arrival inbound, it just goes to show how much more money will be invested into the ever-rising smartphone market hence allowing other global companies to get a piece of the same pie as well.
