Russian Missile Destroys Samsung Ukraine Headquarters

According to media reports, many people are injured and dead but no accurate figures have been released yet

Just recently, the Samsung Research and Development office in Ukraine got hit by a Russian missile. According to sources, the missile landed in a 150 meter radius of the Samsung building which is surrounded by many residential complexes. The impact damaged a large part of the building’s glass windows and resulted in a few casualties.

Numbers are not revealed up until now and authorities are still investigating the attack. The damaged building located in Ukraine was Samsung’s biggest R&D office in all of Europe. Apart from that, it was also the regional headquarters for the tech industry giant.

Located on a busy road, the damage done by the missile attack is expected to be big. Just minutes after the attack, videos and images of the building were found making rounds on Twitter. Almost all videos show the Samsung building and all its surroundings covered in heavy dust clouds and apparent fire in some places.

Apart from housing a huge Samsung office, the building was also rented to multiple other businesses and organizations. A DTEK office (one of the biggest firms in the energy sector) and the German consulate (22nd floor) was also located in the building.

Samsung stopped supply to Russia in March. With the decision, Samsung became one of the many companies to stop operations in Russia after the Ukraine conflict. The company stopped selling smartphones, chipsets, TVs, accessories, or other products in Russia. Controlling over 30% of Russia’s tech market this was a tough decision for Samsung.

Despite halting its operations in Russia, Samsung continues to be a big player in its market. However, a local Russian newspaper suggests that the company will soon continue its operations in Russia. Samsung refused to comment on the topic and it’s unclear whether it’s true or not.
