There has been much anticipation about Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 7. According to an IHS technology analyst, Apple will no longer be offering a 16 GB model for the iPhone. This was posted on a Chinese social media platform by the analyst – IHS’ rumors have been known to be accurate in the past and therefore, it is highly likely that Apple will indeed be dropping the cheapest model in its iPhone 7 that is expected to be announced later this year.
According to the same analyst, the iPhone 7 will also feature 2 GB of RAM with the same dimension specifications as the iPhone 6s. However, there was no word on the iPhone 7 Plus model but according to rumors by a KGI analyst, the 5.5″ iPhone 7 Plus will feature 3 GB RAM with dual-camera.
Another aspect of this rumor is that the analyst believes that Apple will offer the 32 GB model as its base model – the interesting bit here is that Apple did not offer the 32 GB model with the iPhone 6s at all! This move for dropping the 16 GB model is expected because the iPhone 7 will likely feature 4K video recording for which 16 GB is always going to be insufficient.
In conclusion, it is now likely that iPhone will be dropping the cheaper, 16-GB model with the iPhone 7. The new iPhone will feature somewhat the same form-factor as the iPhone 6s but now with enhanced hardware and the latest iOS running on it.
