Rumors Of Extended Winter Break Denied By Punjab Education Department

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Department has recently made the decision not to prolong the winter breaks, therefore all schools in the province will resume on January 13. This is a significant development in the field of education.

Despite the dreary, foggy, and cold weather in Punjab, the department has rejected all proposals of extending winter breaks.

Parents are free to bring their children to school as usual; Secretary of Schools Khalid Nazeer Watto has made it clear that there are no recommendations for contemplating an extension.

Some people agree with the decision to start classes again, but others worry about the health of children because of the cold wave and the fact that most of Punjab is still covered in fog and smog, especially in the mornings.

The Punjab winter break began on December 23, 2024, and will conclude on January 10, 2025. On January 13, classes will resume. The Punjab government’s official notification of an extended winter break was actually just a prank that went viral on social media, confusing students and parents.

Classes have already resumed this week in colleges and universities across Punjab. Meanwhile, the AJK Education Department has announced a slight delay in reopening educational institutions in the region, shifting the date from February 2 to February 6 due to the prevailing cold weather. This adjustment contrasts with the situation in Sindh, Islamabad, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where schools have already reopened as scheduled.
