Ride-hailing service Uber has launched its operation in Gujranwala. Recently, the company also launched its services in Hyderabad. With this new initiative, the company will now be operating from six different locations in Pakistan.
The news was announced by Uber in its official blog post.
“We are thrilled to announce uberGO is now available in Gujranwala, connecting its residents and travelers to safe, reliable, and affordable rides”, said the company.
However, the people of Gujranwala can only opt for UberGo as other Uber services such as Uber Rickshaw and UberX services have not been introduced by the company.
Here are the fares of UberGo.
Base Fare | Minimum Fare | Per KM | Per Minute |
---|---|---|---|
Rs. 120 | Rs. 120 | Rs. 6.52 | Rs. 4 |
To celebrate its launch in Gujranwala, Uber is giving free rides to the people of the city. Free rides will be valid from 12 pm Thursday, May 11th until 11:59 pm Sunday, May 14th.
In Pakistan, the biggest competitor of Uber has been Careem, another ride-hailing service, which is operating from the same cities as Uber. Both the companies are trying to get the lead in ride-hailing service. Earlier this year Careem launched its services for the people of Hyderabad and months later Uber also launched its services in the same city to put pressure on Careem.
Now that Uber has launched its operation in Gujranwala it will be great to see how Careem will react. As of now, Careem has not hinted to operate from Gujranwala. Ride-hailing service Careem is operating from six different locations which include Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Peshawar, and Islamabad.
Uber is now serving 450+ cities around the world. People are using the services of Uber due to its cheap rates and great customer service. The company is hopeful that the operation in Gujranwala will go great.
