Realme to launch a 64MP flagship named “XT”

On the sidelines of the launch event of Realme 5 and 5 Pro, the company also announced a flagship named “XT” which will have a quad-camera set up and one of the lens has a staggering 64MP resolution. Realme is tagging it as the 64MP Quad Camera Xpert and it seems like it will launch in early October as the event ended with the song “Wake me up when September ends.”

The phone will have the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor which has a pixel pitch of 0.8μm and a low-resolution mode of 64-megapixels, as well as a 16-megapixel low light mode. The first 64MP phone was teased by Xiaomi in June and it uses the same sensor as used by Realme. The sensor also features Samsung’s Tetracell technology which places pictures with the same colour filter next to each other in groups of 4, and a 3D HDR feature.

GSMArena did a hands-on with production unit and the pictures look crisp and well detailed. The phone will also have a macro camera, wide-angle lens, and a depth sensor. It is also expected that the XT will have an elevating camera at the front for an uninterrupted display. As of right now, the highest resolution is offered by Realme 5 Pro with a 48MP sensor and expandable storage variants of 64/128GB. It is likely that the XT will have a minimum of 256GB storage to accommodate the huge size of photos.

Samsung also introduced a 108MP sensor but we have yet to see a smartphone which integrates it. The new technology is ISOCELL Bright HMX. This is currently the only sensor in the world to go beyond 100 million pixels and compete with high-end DSLR cameras.
