Realme to introduce 64MP smartphone with quad rear cameras, CEO

The CEO Madhav Sheth of the Chinese smartphone brand Realme has announced that the company is working on a 64Mp smartphone with a quad rear camera system, powered by the GW1 sensor. Madhav made this announcement on his Twitter profile, claiming that Realme will feature the first smartphone with Samsung’s 64MP sensor in it.

48MP cameras have surfaced as one of the biggest trends in the smartphone market in 2019, featured in most of the flagship and budget phones from major smartphone brands. But last month Samsung has upped the game by announcing the 64MP GW1 sensor. There are also reports and rumors that Xiaomi and Samsung both are working on 64Mp devices as well, which shows that anyone from these three brands can be the first one to launch a 64MP camera device.

The GW1 sensor announced by Samsung is larger than 48MP sensors, allowing Samsung to sustain the same 0.8-micron pixel size as the 48MP sensors have. The GW1 sensor has the ability to deliver pixel-bound shots that are similar to a 16MP 1.6-micron pixel snapshot. In the same way, shots taken from 48MP cameras are comparable to a 12MP 1.5-micron pixel snap. To explain it in simple words, a 6MP sensor offers the same low-light picture quality as a 48MP sensor, but at a higher resolution.

Sheth has said that Realme will launch this 64MP device in India first, and it will be a premium killer, which kind of reveals that the device will come with an affordable price.

The picture shared in the tweet has a watermark containing “64MP AI quad camera” branding on it. Let’s hope that Realme opts for a flexible, normal, ultra-wide, telephoto arrangement in its upcoming 64MP smartphone.
