The death of Rana Ammar, a student in the Gender Studies department at Punjab University, has been classified as a homicide, thereby resolving a case that was initially perceived to involve motorcyclists. Law enforcement authorities have apprehended Umar’s associate, known as Dilawar, for interrogation.
As per information obtained from law enforcement sources, Ammar, Dilawar, and another student, Huzaifa, were present in a vehicle at the time of the occurrence. Dilawar was operating the vehicle, with Umar occupying the front passenger seat, while Huzaifa was situated in the rear seat, where he was allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Investigations conducted by law enforcement authorities indicate that Ammar sustained gunshot wounds while inside the vehicle and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. After the gunshot incident, Huzaifa absconded from the location, whereas Dilawar transported Umar to the hospital.
Dilawar has been taken into custody by police who also start looking to ascertain if the gunshot was deliberate or unintentional. It has been debunked the first presumption that motorcyclists performed the shooting.
According to the FIR, the incident happened on university campus next to the gymnasium. The inquiry is still in progress to find the circumstances surrounding the deadly gunshot.
Dilawar and Huzaifa, who were in the car with Ammar, have launched cases against each other. Following postmortem, police turned over the dead body of the student to the families.
