LAHORE: In Punjab, Pakistan, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved a significant cost of Rs. 43 billion to install environmentally efficient buses in five main cities.
The initiative, which was approved during the 39th meeting of the PDWP and chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Nabeel Awan, aims to resolve environmental concerns and enhance public transportation simultaneously.
Goals of initiative
The authorized project would bring these eco-friendly buses to Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur. The main goals of the project are the following:
- Lowering air pollution levels
- Making traffic flow more smoothly
- Offering a safe and quick way for people to get around
By focusing on sustainability, Punjab wants to make it easier for people to live in cities, make public transport more appealing, and help the world move towards higher environmental standards. The new buses are seen as an important step towards making public transport better and more efficient, which will improve people’s quality of life.
Dr. Asif Tufail, Secretary of the P&D Board, Ahmed Javed Qazi, Secretary of the Transport Department, Masood Anwar, Chief Economist, members of the P&D Board, and other notable officers were present at the meeting.
