In a significant move towards enhancing digital connectivity, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) launched free internet service at 200 strategic locations across Lahore on Wednesday. This initiative marks a major step in the province’s efforts to provide seamless and accessible internet services to its residents.
The PSCA has broadened its service to include 11 additional districts in Punjab, increasing the total number of active Wi-Fi hotspots to 270. Alongside Lahore, services are now live in Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Attock, including important areas in Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree.
A spokesperson from PSCA has reported that over 13 million users have utilized more than 265 TB of data. Following the chief minister’s directives, Punjab is undergoing a transformation into a digital province.
Additionally, the spokesperson emphasized that the complimentary Wi-Fi service is intended for necessary daily tasks rather than for video streaming or entertainment activities.
This free Wi-Fi service has truly simplified life for the residents of Punjab, allowing them to save valuable time in their daily routines. Individuals can effortlessly tap into online services, elevate their education and research efforts, boost business productivity, and engage with social networks, among various other benefits.
