Punjab Govt Introduces Digital Weapon License Management System; Here’s How to Apply?

The Punjab Home Department has modernized the management of weapon licenses by introducing a digital system that allows citizens to handle tasks such as license transfer, renewal, and issuance of duplicate licenses online.

According to the department, citizens can now apply for transfers of weapon licenses and request duplicate copies through an online platform. Additionally, they can sell existing weapons and extend license validity across Pakistan without visiting government offices.

The online system aims to eliminate the need for in-person visits by offering the convenience of electronic filing of all required documents as well as payment of legal fees. This initiative streamlines the process, reducing time and effort for the applicants.

How to apply for a weapon license?

To apply for a weapon license, individuals must:

  1. Complete the Application Form: This form is available for download on the official website of the Punjab government.
  2. Attach Required Documents: Include a copy of the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), two recent passport-sized photographs, and, if applicable, a copy of the National Tax Number (NTN) certificate for individuals who are taxpayers.
  3. Submit the Application: Applications can be submitted online via the portal of the Punjab administration.
  4. Verification Process: The application undergoes verification by the relevant authorities.
  5. Issuance of License: Upon successful verification, the license is issued in the form of a secure smart card.

The department announced that the online module was developed in accordance with the Punjab Arms Rules 2023, in partnership with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). This system aims to improve transparency and efficiency in managing weapon licenses.

All deputy commissioners throughout Punjab have received instructions to inform citizens about the new online platform. Applicants seeking to adjust their weapon licenses are urged to take advantage of the system for a seamless procedure.
