LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has increased the scope of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” which now provides free internet access in over 230 sites across the province.
According to the idea, Punjab would be transformed into an information technology city, with simple Internet access for all citizens.
The free Wi-Fi service is now available at 200 spots in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib. Other cities covered by this route include Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur.
The initiative has been effective since its introduction on June 16, with 7.7 million users consuming 111 terabytes of data in the first three months of its deployment. The major channel availability is 98.7% on average.
When addressing this project in the media, an official from the Safe Cities Authority(PSCA) emphasized that it not only contributes to the improvement of educational infrastructures but also helps individuals who wish to do business and socialize.
“We are transforming Punjab into a digital province, and the free Wi-Fi service is an important step in this direction. Citizens are utilizing the free Wi-Fi service to ease their daily lives,” the official added.
