Public school teachers in Punjab have been provided with the facility to apply for their transfers through mobile phones. The government of Punjab in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has created a platform called e-Transfer system through which teachers will have access to individual transfer applications, score calculation formula, wait-lists, sanctioned posts at each school, as well as designation/post-based transfer eligibility.
Minister for School Education, Dr. Murad Raas, while addressing a news briefing at Arfa Software Technology Park Lahore said that the e-Transfer system is created by the government to tackle the problems associated with the outdated-overburdened, and traditional method of transferring of teachers that was highly dependent on officials.
The e-transfer system helps to make the transfer process of teachers simpler, efficient and transparent for all. Moreover, it has built-in features that encourage teachers to apply for posts in places where there is a shortage of teachers instead of those public schools that have surplus teachers already present.
The minister also added that we have received an amazing response to the e-Transfer system. A total of 32,231 teachers applied for transfers this year contesting for 20,162 available posts. The e-Transfer system has already generated transfer orders of teachers with QR-codes for almost 18,000 applicants after detailed verification of transferred teachers from district education authorities. The applicants will receive a copy of their transfer order on their cell phones, he added.
Dr. Murad Raas congratulated School Education Department for taking this initiative. The Secretary, School Education, and important members from the School Education Department and the PITB also attended the event.
