Public Holiday Announced for Allama Iqbal Day on November 9th 2024

The federal government has officially announced a public holiday on November 9th  to commemorate Allama Iqbal Day, as confirmed by a press release from the Press Information Department (PID) on Thursday, 7th November 2024.

A notification from the Cabinet Division stated that November 9, 2024 (Saturday), will be observed as a holiday nationwide to honor the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the revered national poet and philosopher.

“As notified vide Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-02/2023-Min-II dated 20th December 2023, listing Public and Optional Holidays for the year 2024, Saturday, the 9th November 2024 shall be a public holiday throughout the country on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day,” the notification read.

Additionally, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also declared a public holiday on the same date. As per the SBP circular, the central bank will remain closed on November 9 in observance of Allama Iqbal Day.

Iqbal Day is an annual event in Pakistan observed on November 9 to celebrate the birth of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the nation’s esteemed poet and philosopher.
