Ptcl Increases Bandwidth To Improve Internet Speed

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has provided an update on the recent internet service disruptions caused by a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable near Qatar. To mitigate the impact of this outage, PTCL has added “additional bandwidth,” which has significantly alleviated internet slowness.

Despite these efforts, some users may still experience slowness with Meta-related services, including WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, during peak hours. PTCL has assured customers that a complete resolution of the issue is expected in the coming days. The company, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), is working diligently to achieve the fastest possible resolution.

Last week, PTCL acknowledged the internet service disruption caused by a fault in the international submarine cable. The company stated, “Due to an international submarine cable outage, you may experience slow browsing issues. Teams are working diligently to resolve the matter as soon as possible.” PTCL also apologized for any inconvenience caused during this time.

In the meantime, Pakistan continues to face internet disruptions, and social media platform X remains blocked in the country. According to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index for October, Pakistan ranked 141st out of 158 nations for fixed broadband, with a median speed of 15.6 Mbps. In terms of mobile data, the country ranked 100th out of 111 countries, with a median speed of 20.61 Mbps.
