PTCL holds session on disruptive technology trends

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) organized an exclusive session for its employees on new emerging trends in disruptive technology, recently. The session was conducted by Jason Pontin, the Editor-in-Chief and publisher of MIT Technology Review.

A disruptive innovation is an innovation that creates a new market and value network, and eventually disrupts an existing market and value network, displacing established market leaders and alliances. Innovations having significant societal impact can also be called as disruptive. Moreover, any ground-breaking product that creates a completely new industry is also included in this domain.

Mr. Jason shared 10 breakthrough technologies of 2015, and some of the areas in which disruptive technology has played a significant role including the internet of things, big data, mobile internet, smart phones, social networking and cloud computing.

The session was attended by senior PTCL management and employees, and ended with an interactive Q/A session.

The session was conducted to make PTCL employees, and the organization as a whole, more knowledgeable on current groundbreaking technological insights so that the organization can come up as a technological leader through integration of these latest disruptive technology trends, in future.

“PTCL is one of the front-runners of innovation and continues to strive always on the lookout for new and challenging ways in which it can satisfy its customers,” stated Syed Mazhar Hussain, CHRO PTCL. “Through this seminar, we will be able to determine the various areas which we can capitalize on with the help of our available resources, and establish other avenues in which we can enhance our technological arm for the benefit of society.”

MIT Technology Review is a digitally oriented, global media company which derives its authority from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It’s aim is to lead global conversations regarding technologies which matter to the world.

Such sessions are helpful in keeping the employees in touch with the latest innovations emerging in the market. The knowledge gained in such sessions can open possibility of application of these technologies for advancing PTCL’s technological capabilities.
