PTA Conducting Benchmark Tests To Oversee Quality Of Mobile Networks

In recent news, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is conducting a nationwide benchmark test to determine the Quality of Service (QoS) of Pakistan’s mobile networks. The benchmarking test will cover cities, towns, and roads by implementing the latest Network Performance Score (NPS) methodology.

NPS is an official yet integrative scoring methodology which enables telecom regulators to properly assess the quality of mobile networks on the basis of international standard KPIs.

So far, over 10 cities, 4 towns including 18 motorways, roads, and highways were assessed through 2,600 voice calls and 26,000 data tests. The networks were tested while the devices utilized 4G services.

The survey is currently public which allows operators to improve their existing infrastructure and ensure that their QoS is up to par. IN addition to the regular surveys, the PTA also conducts QoS surveys on a periodic basis to properly assess the network performance of Cellular Mobile Operators with respect to the KPIs for voice calls, data usage, and messaging services.
