The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially hired National Economic Research Associates Inc. (NERA), an international consultancy firm based in the United States, to assist with the upcoming 5G spectrum auction.
The agreement for consultancy services under the project titled “Release of IMT Spectrum for Improvement of Next Generation Mobile Broadband Services in Pakistan” was finalized on November 5th, 2024.
Subsequently, stakeholders are being consulted. NERA is responsible for advising the government on the selection of auctions, spectrum valuation, and specific adjustments. It is anticipated that the construction process will conclude in April 2025.
NERA was one of the most technically competent candidates in this context and submitted the lowest financial proposal of $ 0.750 million in the past month after accepting the letter of intent (LOI).
