Borge Brende, who is the President of World Economic Forum (WEF), a leading global economic development organization has arrived in Islamabad today to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan and other key officials of the government. This is the first time ever in almost 20 years that a WEF president has arrived in Pakistan.
The WEF president will stay in Pakistan for one day and will meet the Adviser to PM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, Commerce Adviser Abdul Razzak Dawood, Climate Change Adviser Malik Amin Aslam, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, and Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood.

According to the statement issued by the authorities, Ikram Sehgal the chairman of Pathfinder Group who is also a founder member of the WEF, together with Martin Dow Group Chairman Ali Akhai, is going to host a lunch at a local in the honor of Brende.
Pathfinder and Martin Dow group for the last 17 years have been organizing “Pakistan Breakfast” at the annual meetings of the World Economic Forum in Davos. During these breakfast events, the chief guest from Pakistan is available for a ‘Question and Answer’ session with the media personalities and international leaders.
The visit of WEF president to Pakistan shows that this global organization is taking a keen interest in Pakistan and is willing to take more initiatives to support the country through a difficult transition period.
PM Khan is also going to visit the US from July 21 to 23 to meet President Donald Trump. According to the official statement issued by the White House Imran Khan and Donald Trump are going to discuss various topics including “counter-terrorism, defense, energy, and trade, with the goal of creating the conditions for a peaceful South Asia and an enduring partnership between the two countries”.
