Major General (Retd) Dr. Ghulam Qamar has been officially appointed as the Director General of Religious Education with effect from the backdated period starting from November 18th, 2024 for a tenure of three years.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved the appointment, with the Establishment Division issuing an official notification, signifying an important advancement in the incorporation of religious seminaries into the national education system.
Dr. Ghulam Qamar, a notable retired military officer, offers a rich background and extensive experience in this position. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Qamar served as the Project Director at DGRE, where he was actively involved in initiatives aimed at reforming and regulating religious education institutions in Pakistan.
