Plan9 is taking applications for 5th Cycle of Incubation

Plan9 has started taking applications for their 5th cycle of incubation. The last date to apply is 31st October. Plan9 is Pakistan’s largest tech startup incubation program that takes in promising startups from all over the country twice a year. The success rate of these startups is comparatively low but the program manager and whole team is working hard to improve the curriculum and hence, increase the ratio of success.

Last year, Plan9 collaborated with Acumen to host a Social Entrepreneurship Launchpad but this year, we weren’t able to find out anything like that in the registration form. Could that mean Plan9 is not taking Social Entrepreneurship Applications this time around, or has it been merged in some categorical reform? We have dropped an email to the Plan9 and waiting for their response on this.

For now, the eligibility criteria for applications states:

  • You should be a Pakistani Citizen
  • You should have at least two team members
  • The idea should be of a product and must have a tech aspect involved.

For the Winter/Spring 2015 incubation cycle, interested startups can register at Plan9’s official website. Short-listed ideas will be called forth for a 2-day event (dubbed Launchpad) at Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Applicants will have to give a 2-minute pitch and successfully satisfy the judges to move on to the 2nd day where a gruelling cross-examination session will determine which startups will be selected for the incubation cycle.

Plan9 offers a variety of perks and incentives for selected startups, so it’s a rare opportunity for everyone who has got an innovative tech-related product idea. Interested individuals may register at Plan9’s official website here, and should follow the official Facebook page of Plan9 for more updates.
